The Rams were coming off the back of two straight losses as they came into the game looking to bounce back against a Tonbridge Juddians side who sat 5 places below them at the start of the day.

Neither side were really able to hit their stride due to copious errors of handling, but Rams coach, Seb Reynolds, alluded to errors that may have been made off the pitch as well, when we caught up with him after the game, saying, “we started really brightly and played some fantastic handling rugby early on, but as the conditions deteriorated, Tonbridge Juddians came back into the game very well. We made a lot of errors in our tactical decision making, but as long as we learn from this I’ll be happy.”

The Rams began the game seemingly determined to rectify the losses of previous weeks as they immediately put pressure on the Tonbridge Juddians defense, dominating possession over the first ten minutes.

Souter was providing the creativity for the Rams with some clever kicks, one of which Rossiter looked set to run onto and take over the try line only for the ball to take an unfortunate bounce out of play, agonisingly close to the TJ's try line.

However, despite their dominance, it took the Reading men until the 16th minute to register a try, set up by a mazy run from Souter, and with the Rams getting the ball wide, Rossiter ran the ball in comfortably.

Following this, the momentum appeared to sway in favour of Tonbridge Juddians, as they enjoyed a prolonged period of possession, but were not causing the Rams defence any real trouble.

This was until, after 30 minutes, Prescott injected some much needed creativity into Tonbridge Juddians’s attack with a skillful pass, sparking the catalyst for the away side to take the ball over the line and bring the scores level.

However, the TJ's were quickly let down by a yellow card for McHugh, of which the Rams took immediate advantage, taking the lead in clinical fashion through Vooght, minutes before half time.

The first 30 minutes of the second half lacked in action with the only moment worthy of note a try for TJ’s Atiola to take the scores level and setting the game up for a tense finish, with the Rams a man down due to a yellow card for Henderson.

This tense finish came to fruition with the last kick of the game being a penalty kick for Tonbridge Juddians to win the game, their second chance within a matter of minutes. As the crowd hushed in anticipation Prescott dragged the ball wide leaving both sides to share the points.
The Rams will hope the lessons sink in quickly as they travel away Broadstreet next week.
