The Rams dominated the second half of a fairly low scoring affair to emerge victorious, with the score at 21 – 14, against a dangerous Canterbury side at Old Bath Road.

The two centres Stevie Bryant and Jordan Souter shone in a quiet game with a particularly frustrating first half.
Also performing well this weekend were the Titans who look like their going to finish top of their league, which head coach Seb Reynolds touched on after speaking about the game saying, ‘Both sides had clear intent to move the ball around today, but I think we were guilty of missing opportunities in the first half, but I was really pleased with the way we built pressure and were patient when it didn’t quite come off. In the second half most of the game was played in Canterbury’s half. Canterbury are a really dangerous side as we know from earlier on in the season, but twice this year we’ve done a really good job of shutting down their dangerous runners. Also, it was good to hear the Titans got a great win and they’re looking like they’re top of the league now so its been a positive year all round for the club.’

The game began with high intensity from both sides, but the deadlock was not broken until after 10 minutes into the game as Canterbury secured the only try of the half, breaking down the left hand side to score in the corner. The only other action over the rest of the half was Jarvis converting two penalty kicks for the Rams to bring them within a point of the away side, as neither side were able to maintain any momentum.

The Rams seemed to emerge from the tunnel in the second half with a renewed energy and desire as they dominated the early exchanges.

Their hard work came to fruition, with Canterbury a man down having received a yellow card, the Rams drove to the line, and with the maul collapsing agonisingly close to the Canterbury try line, Booth took the ball out the back of the scrum and gave it to Henderson who ploughed through the Canterbury defence and over the line as the Rams took the lead for the first time in the game.

The Rams continued to attack relentlessly, enjoying the majority of the chances over the rest of the half, and looking in command following another Jarvis converted penalty kick. There was a late flurry of tries as both sides added to the tally but ultimately it left the score unaltered as the Rams secured victory in fitting fashion as captain Vooght’s try signaled the last move of the game.
