MATCH REPORT: SUPER CENTS SECURE SECOND WIN OF SEASON

RAMS Centaurs (3rd XV) produced a brilliant performance to record their second Counties One Tribute Southern North victory of the season with a 42-24 home triumph against Bicester.

Having lost their previous four games, the hosts enjoyed being back at Old Bath Road and made a perfect start as Alex Morgans crossed for a score added to by Cameron George.

Things got better as returning wing AJ Peplinski showed his quality with two tries, George converting both to put his side 21-0 in front.

Yet Bicester rallied both before and after the break, Tom Horwood touching down before the interval as Dan Spencer landed the kick to cut the gap to 14.

Horwood doubled his tally after the break and fellow front-row Will Anns also went over, another conversion blowing the game wide open with the sides separated by just two points.

However, the Mighty Cents regathered their nerve and secured the try bonus-point when Chris Kessell got over the whitewash.

George was again on target, and co-captain Alex Griffiths was the next to cross as another successful conversion made it 35-19 to the hosts.

The game was effectively put to bed when Morgans doubled his tally, Jack Gaylor this time taking over kicking duties, and despite Anns having the final say to ensure Bicester left with a point, it was too little, too late.

While Peplinski was the star of the show, coach Joe Whatmore was also delighted with other players including fellow try-scorer Morgans, and former Colt George who switched to inside centre and excelled in the No. 12 shirt with Jack Gaylor starting at fly-half.

Another youngster, Thaine Baker, also impressed on the open-side flank as Rams climbed out of the bottom two.

The Mighty Cents do not have a game this weekend, returning to action at Bracknell 2nd XV on Saturday, December 9 ahead of a pre-Christmas game against Buckingham seven days later.
