Good defense from our Titans

I was bitterly disappointed with the turnout from Chippenham on Sunday. With what should have been an A and B fixture turned into 3 x 20.
Both club were suffering from injury's but i had hoped that Chippenham would have turned up with the bare bones of a B team, we could have loaned players to make a competitive game.

We had a number of late call offs due to school rugby knocks which meant some players having to play out of position.

With Rams/Mixed, First 20 we performed well. Chippenham have a very strong pack and use it well at Mauls which are always difficult to stop without infringing. The Rams team took a while to settle but soon had Chippenham on the back foot. 14-5

The second 20 minute game with our Titans team was good to see. The defense was superb, The defensive structure worked well and Chippenham failed to penetrate the defense in the middle of the park. It took them a number of phases to split the defense and then they were only able to score out wide which made any attempts at converting very tricky, which they failed to do. 0-15

10 Minutes mixed, With a number of changes the mixed team performed well. 0-0
10 minutes mixed, With the final players taking to the field some of our Titans team were up for the fight. Some well worked phases allowed us to split Chippenham defense with a well work try up the middle of the park and an easy conversion. Chippenham used their Pack again to dominate the game, making groud from kicks and driving mauls. This allowed them to score two well worked trys with one conversation.

I think this year i will be looking to invite some alternative opposition for our Development team. Its becoming a bit of a theme when clubs over state how many players they are likely to have then only to turn up with the bare minimum of a team. Makes for very disjointed games that mean players cant get into their stride.
