Strong Signs after first Site of Opposition this Season

It was great to get stuck into the first ‘away’ action of the season with a joint training session at Phoenix RFC. Firstly, we should say a huge thank-you to Phoenix for the warm welcome. Our two clubs have never played each other at mini level in the past and this was great fun …. Hopefully the start of a great relationship between the clubs. We’re already looking to see when we can have them back for a return fixture.

After 3 weeks of training at home, the players were desperate to set eyes on another team, and with competitive fixtures starting next week as we head into October this was a great curtain-raiser to the season.

Training together was fun, with a great chance for coaches and players to get a glimpse of what Under 10s rugby is going to be like this year. The main focus was on contact drills so they players can start to get their game heads on for the weeks ahead.

Although competitive rugby cannot start until October, we were able to play a few structured skeleton games to work on match awareness. The ‘ensians squad clearly showed that they are ready for the action ahead and raring to go. It was especially great to see the new players enjoying their first interactions with another club …. Welcome to ‘ensians everyone and good luck for a great season with a great club.

We have a bigger squad than in the past few seasons, which is fantastic for everyone. Whatever happens next, there is no doubt this season is going to be fun!

Well done everyone and bring on Windsor Festival next week.
