Windsor Festival runners up

A really good day at Windsor for all.

We usually think of the Windsor Festival as a little early in the season. It's our first tournament of the season and until then we haven't played any opposition.

We managed to field two teams this year and both teams did well.

Firstly, the team that Alistair and I took - the Titans - Played 4, drew 2 lost 2. That doesn't tell the story though. THis is the first tournament any of the Berkshire teams have played under the new rules of the game and it took a little getting used to. Our first game, a 2-2 draw, could easily have been a 4-2 win, but for a couple of minor infringements. At Under 9s when the ball is placed back on the floor, the first receiver must pass. If the ball is passed off the floor, then he can pick and go. It can be a very narrow distinction. As we and the refs developed through the game we all learned to manage the game a bit better.

The theme of the day for the Titans was progress and confidence - confidence building through each game. I am sure that same team will be extremely successful at upcoming festivals.

Our Rams team where the only team with a 100% win record in their draw. That meant another final against Rosslyn Park. I didn't get to see much of the Rams this week - the only game I saw was a very impressive performance and a narrow defeated. We played very well and could so easily have won the game. We were all very proud of our Rams team.

Runners up in this festival ahead of our local rivals, such as Maidenhead and Bracknell bringing home a trophy and medals is a credit on the team.

Roll on Reading in a fortnight.....
