Recent Form: Stuttering. Having looked set for a top-three finish, Moseley have wobbled during a run of one win in six matches with captain Ollie Stedman suspended – although he returns on Saturday!

Most recently the hosts were beaten 52-0 as Chinnor wrapped up the title in style, Moseley having drawn 17-17 at Richmond and lost to Plymouth Albion (20-3) and Blackheath (36-12) in their two games prior to that.

A 26-14 home success against Cinderford followed a 37-31 reverse at Sale, the 32-28 win against Darlington Mowden Park the game in which Stedman spoke to vociferously to the match officials.

That victory was a fourth in a row as the Midlanders gained momentum against Leicester Lions (20-10), Bishop’s Stortford (38-13) and Taunton Titans (34-15), two nerve-jangling clashes to start 2024 ending in a 33-32 home loss to Rosslyn Park and a fine 31-29 win against Richmond.

Moseley ended last year with narrow defeats at Sedgley Park (32-26), Chinnor (27-24) and Plymouth (19-18), though had been on another fine run with five straight wins against Blackheath (19-17), Cinderford (34-14), Sale (22-14), DMP (28-27) and Leicester (25-18) before.

The opening five games of the season saw mixed results, Moseley wrapping up a bonus-point inside the first 20 minutes of a 50-36 defeat at Rams, before following it with a loss to Sedgley (44-21), terrific win at Rosslyn Park (24-19), another against Taunton (35-22) and then a 29-22 setback at Bishop’s Stortford to close September.

Players to Watch:

Ryan Roach – Hooker is joint top-try-scorer this season with seven to his name, and over two spells at Birmingham has racked up 26 scores in 86 appearances.

Had a year at Ealing Trailfinders where he was loaned to Rosslyn Park for the 2019/20 campaign.

Four tries in his past two games with Rams, including a brace in the opening game.

Tighe Maxwell-Whiteley – Fly-half has enjoyed a productive first season at Billesley Common, having switched from Leeds Tykes last summer.

Tops the point-scoring charts for the Midlanders with 142, made up of three tries, 41 conversions and 15 penalties.

Has only missed one game and crossed the whitewash against Rams last term.

Aquile Smith – The Jamaican international Sevens wing has been in fabulous form this season, grabbing 15 tries in 22 appearances to lead the Birmingham list.

Overall tally now at 36 in 83 matches for a speedster with Championship Cup experience at Hartpury RFC.
