In a topsy-turvy encounter, the hosts fell 7-0 behind before Mike O’Sullivan scored their first try at Level Three.
A Bishop’s penalty made it 10-5 at half-time, but TJs moved in front thanks to a Truman Sullivan try and Harvey Young penalty.
The visitors levelled with a penalty of their own before Toby Freeman made it 18-13 to Tonbridge, only for Stortford to snatch a share of the spoils.
Previously, TJs enjoyed a successful pre-season with a 27-19 triumph at National Two South side Canterbury, preceded by a 52-12 victory at Henley Hawks.

Toby Freeman – Powerful second row made a competitive try-scoring debut for TJs in their 18-18 draw with Bishop’s Stortford.
Has previously played for Harlequins, Cornish Pirates, Rotherham Titans and started his career with Exeter Chiefs.
Mike O’Sullivan – Stalwart hooker who has been with the Kent club throughout their rise to National One, he was fittingly the first player to cross the whitewash for them last weekend.
Hugo Watson – Flying wing was top National Two South try scorer with 22 efforts – six more than anyone else – in Tonbridge’s promotion-winning campaign.
