As we look back to finally returning to the field of play against our neighbours and National One rivals Chinnor, we will take a look back over some classic encounters before May 22.
Rams 17-32 Chinnor (October, 2016)
Rams suffered a third consecutive defeat as Chinnor maintained their unbeaten record at the start of the 2016/17 campaign.
An early Jacob Atkins penalty gave the hosts the advantage, only for Kieran Goss to grab Chinnor’s first try of the afternoon on 18 minutes.
Ex-Ram Dan Barnes added a second try, converted by Bertie Hopkin, and after he landed a penalty following Tom Vooght’s sin-binning, the away side were 15-3 to the good.
Barnes went over for a second to put his side 17 points in front, but Rams hit back before the break as Atkins converted a Dan Sanders’ score to reduce the deficit to 20-10.
The hosts began the second half brightly, and after sustained pressure, Chinnor’s James Tyack was given a yellow card.
Robbie Stapley powered over from close range before Atkins added the extras to reduce the gap to three points, but sadly that was as good as it got for Rams.
Shortly before the hour-mark Bevon Armitage crossed with Hopkin adding the extras, and the game was put to bed when George Messum dotted down in the final quarter.
