Summary:

Rob’s career spanned more than a decade and began with him playing in the backs, before switching to the back row during the second half of his career.

He first crossed the whitewash at the back end of the Berkshire, Dorset & Wiltshire One promotion campaign of 1997/98, dotting down against Thatcham (43-15) and Melksham (39-12) in the second and third last games of the season.

He grabbed a brace in the 61-11 thumping of North Dorset in the opening game of the following campaign, and then crossed three more times in the 99/2000 season, scoring against Sherborne (29-12), Ivel Barbarians (32-0) and Swindon College Old Boys (74-20).

After some time out, Rob returned with Rams in South West Two East, and he was in hot form at the end of the 2001/02 season, scoring against Windsor (16-12), Stow-on-the-Wold (20-31) and Olney (31-10).

Following another break, Rob was back for the 04/05 Southern Counties South campaign, and grabbed six tries from the back row.

His first came in the 27-8 home win against Bradford-on-Avon, and two weeks later he followed it up in the 22-5 home win against Minety.

In his best effort to date, further scores came at Tadley (31-15), at home to Trowbridge (29-7), away to Frome (22-17) and against Devizes (14-3).

Rob contributed five tries in Rams’ wonderful Southern Counties North title-winning season of 2005/06, bagging doubles against Slough (55-10) and Grove (25-24) as well as a score against Witney (22-5) as the Sonning men lost just two of 22 games.

His most productive season came the following year as Rams made it back-to-back titles with their South West Two East triumph.

He grabbed his sole career hat-trick against Swindon in a 41-36 barnstormer, and also went over against Swanage & Wareham (39-21), Aylesbury (38-15), Marlow (10-13) and Cheltenham (47-8).

Rob dotted down against Maidenhead (38-5) in 2007/08, and after a couple of years out due to work commitments, he showed his class with a trio of National Three South West scores in the 2010/11 campaign.

These came at home to Bournemouth at home (13-9), at Chinnor (10-22) and finally in the return fixture against Bournemouth (10-42), albeit he continued to make appearances for a couple of years to follow.
