As we look back to finally returning to the field of play against our neighbours and National One rivals Chinnor, we will take a look back over some classic encounters before May 22.
5) Rams 29-31 Chinnor (January 2018)
One of the best games ever seen at Old Bath Road ended with the visitors just about holding on a for a victory which played a key part in helping them secure promotion to National One.
Chinnor made the initial breakthrough courtesy of an eighth-minute Jack Ramshaw try converted by Jonny Bentley, only for Rams to overcome an injury to Robbie Stapley as Ben Henderson crossed the whitewash.
Bentley added the extras after Mike McDonald collected his own chip ahead to score, but a Tom Humberstone penalty cut the deficit to 14-8.
Chinnor’s third converted score of the afternoon came just after the half-hour mark as Phil Chesters went over, and they took a 13-point lead into the interval.
The hosts dragged them back into the contest with a converted Connor Stapley try 12 minutes into the second period, but the visitors took a stranglehold on proceedings with five-pointers from Willie Ryan and Bentley making it 31-15 after 64 minutes.
Rams, however, rallied bravely, and Humberstone slotted the extras after Matt Weller and Jak Rossiter touched down to make it a two-point game with three minutes remaining.
But despite throwing everything at their opponents at the death, Rams could not fashion a winning score and Chinnor extended their points advantage in the National Two South table to 12.
