Smith and Grindle mash Malvern, four-try Marsh stars against WSM, formidable Frome and Nick Flynn bags a brace in Farnborough success!

Rams 52-23 Malvern (February 16, 2013)

Rams ran in eight tries against a plucky Malvern side as wings Josh Smith and Matt Grindle both bagged braces.

It was Grindle who opened the scoring in the fifth minute, and after Tom Redfern cut the gap with a penalty, Smith picked up his first of the afternoon which Guy Swadling converted for a 12-3 home advantage.

Redfern knocked over two more penalties, but the hosts secured a 10-point half-time lead when Swadling improved Ian Jeffreys’ injury-time try.

And they turned the screw after the break, racking up 19 unanswered points to put the game to bed.

Swadling grabbed the first score with a mazy 40-metre run and then added the extras to further tries from his brother Simon and Smith.

Redfern converted scores from Ryan Watkins and Nick Miller to make it 38-23, but Rams had the final say, Swadling’s excellent form with the boot continuing after Grindle’s superb solo effort and a debut try for replacement Chris Emmett.

Weston-super-Mare 23-52 Rams (September 24, 2011)

Four-try full back Jevon Marsh led the way for Rams as they picked up a handsome win on the road.

Azza Hopkins, Andy Amor, Dom Gosling and Shaun Brown also dotted down, with the latter adding six conversions to complete the scoring.

Frome 59-16 Rams (October 5, 2002)

The boys in blue crashed 59-16 at Southern Counties South pacemakers Frome, despite holding the Somerset side to a one-point half-time lead.

Their points had come from Andy Slyfield’s three penalties and the conversion of a try from wing Craig Clements.

But the floodgates opened in the second half, with 42 unanswered points added as missed tackles and the size and strength of the opposition told.

Rams 53-22 Farnborough (November 6, 1999)

Nick Flynn bagged a brace and with Simon Henderson, Greg Frost, Jez Flynn, Quinlan, Rob Honan and Cohen also among the try scorers, Rams eased to a comfortable friendly success.
