There were tries galore in a game with an end-of-season feel, both sides with little to play for, and ultimately it was hooker Mark Darlington – on his 50th appearance and having returned to Chinnor expecting to play Veterans’ rugby – who scored the last-minute winner.
Henry Bird grabbed a brilliant hat-trick for the visitors as Robbie Stapley, Stevie Bryant and Drew Humberstone also went over.

Debutant Zach Clow scored twice as a devastating first-half performance helped the hosts to victory against a Chinnor side who had been improving under new DoR Nick Easter.

One of the most important results in the club’s history, the return of Robbie Stapley from Henley kick-started Rams’ brilliant second half of the season run to secure National Two South survival.
Sean McDermottroe (two), Tom Vooght, Stapley, Ben Henderson and Olly Foxley got the tries as Luke Flower slotted four conversions and a penalty for a famous win at Kingsey Road – despite the hosts clawing back from 41-26 down and having two shots at a conversion to snatch a draw.
2) Rams 27-21 Chinnor (September, 2019)
Henry Bird bagged a brace – the second proving the last-gasp match-winner in what would become known as ‘Birdy’s Corner’ – as Conor Corrigan and Robbie Stapley, in the 75th minute to start the grandstand late comeback, helped Rams to a dramatic bonus-point success.
1) Chinnor 17-21 Rams (January, 2020)
The original Friday Night Lights and still arguably the most memorable battle between two sides chasing National One promotion before Covid shortened the season.
Rams built up a 21-3 lead in front of a huge Kingsey Road crowd, Tom Vooght twice touching down after Ben Henderson scored his side’s first, but they were indebted to Ollie Taylor’s final-minute line-out steal to finally set the seal on one of the greatest games in the club’s history.
Now what awaits in two days time!
