Summary:
Jak hit the ground running after joining at the start of the 2016/17 season, grabbing his first try in the narrow 26-22 home defeat to neighbours Henley in the third game of the campaign.
He had eight by Christmas having also crossed at home to Barnstaple (31-20), Barnes (33-12), Cinderford (41-22), Bishop’s Stortford (24-25), at Worthing (29-25) and then by bagging a brace at home to London Irish Wild Geese (39-24) in the last game of 2016.
He made it five tries in four games at Henley (12-17) and dotted down in the Chinnor defeat (16-10) a fortnight later, before he kicked off February with his second double of the season at home to Exmouth (43-21).
Further tries at Cinderford (25-12) and at home to Clifton (41-26) took his tally to 14 and made Jak top scorer in a campaign when Rams finished sixth.
The speedster scored Gensians’ first try of the following campaign, albeit in a narrow defeat at Henley (28-24), although he had to wait until week six for his second in the 47-24 success at Tonbridge Juddian.
Jak scored at home to Old Redcliffians (33-26) and away to Taunton (21-31), and was also on the scoresheet in the dramatic 31-29 loss to Chinnor in the first game at Old Bath Road of 2018.
He completed a seasonal double against TJs in the 12-12 draw, before he grabbed his first hat-trick for the club in the 27-24 reverse at Bury St Edmunds.
Jak’s most prolific campaign came in the title-winning season of 2018/19, when he ran in 18 tries to finish as second top scorer behind his good friend Ben Henderson.
For the second straight campaign he opened the scoring, this time going on to bag a brace in the 44-15 home success against Canterbury.
During a hot streak he crossed the following week at London Irish Wild Geese (41-10), snared two at home to Bury St Edmunds (47-21), dotted down at Barnes (26-19) and also went over against Guernsey (48-14) and Tonbridge Juddian (33-18) to make it eight scores in eight games.
After a relative barren spell, Jak grabbed his ninth of the season in the pre-Christmas 40-12 home win against Wild Geese, before his two late scores at Henley (19-12) sealed one of Rams’ most famous wins in the first game of 2019.
Tries at Bury (19-3) and against Barnes (48-14) made it five in five, and another hot streak late in the season – when he dotted down at home to Redruth (28-10) before bagging a brace in the title-sealing win at Clifton (45-21) and another at home to Birmingham & Solihull (38-24) – gave him five in three and an impressive 18 for the season.
And Jak kept up his form as Rams enjoyed a superb debut season in National One, finishing as joint top scorer with Tom Vooght on 12 before the season was prematurely halted.
He grabbed a key try to help beat Birmingham Moseley 25-21 in the first home game of the season, adding another against Hull Ionians (36-8) before crossing twice at Canterbury (48-22).
A score at Sale (26-19) gave him five before Christmas, and after scoring in the narrow 22-17 loss at home to former club Richmond in mid-January, he grabbed back-to-back doubles against Hull (40-13) and Blackheath (18-31).
Tries against Rotherham (25-20) and Old Elthamians (31-15) made it seven in six games, but sadly play was halted after the thrilling win at Cinderford the week after.
