Summary:

Tom’s first try was part of Rams’ first ever away win in National Two South, as they broke their duck at the fifth time of asking with a 37-12 triumph at Southend.

And despite their tough start to the season, Rams hauled themselves out of trouble, aided by further tries from Tom in the stunning 41-39 win at Chinnor, the narrow 27-23 reverse at Canterbury and the thrilling 31-28 success at Bury St Edmunds in April which proved a big moment in sealing survival.

Vooghty crossed four times in the following season which was again disrupted by University commitments, his first coming in the 29-25 victory at Worthing in mid-December.
He backed it up with the opener in the 14-7 win at Barnstaple, also crossing at Barnes (36-22) and Taunton (32-33).

His first full campaign saw him harvest an impressive 15 tries to finish as joint top scorer along with penalty tries in 2017/18.

Tom’s first came in the second game at home to London Irish Wild Geese (44-16), and he grabbed another the next week in a high-scoring cracker at Worthing (40-30).

Number three came in the 47-24 success at Tonbridge Juddian, and he then hit a pre-Christmas hot streak with a score at Canterbury (40-15), two against Clifton (43-16) and another at Geese (52-12).

He made it six in four games with another double against Worthing (39-26), and he grabbed another in the 12-12 draw with TJs to round out January.

Tom dotted down in the dramatic 38-31 win at Barnstaple and then scooped two more against Wimbledon (24-15), before completing his seasonal tally at home to Canterbury (21-14) and Henley (51-0).

He started the title-winning season of 2018/19 in fine fashion with a try in the opener against Canterbury (44-15) and another two weeks later at home to Henley (43-13).

Vooghty had to wait until the New Year for his third as Rams gained a measure of revenge against Old Albanian (36-21), and he then crossed at home to Barnes (48-14) a fortnight later as Rams smashed the club record winning streak with a 16th in a row.

Tom grabbed Rams’ first a fortnight later at Tonbridge Juddian, albeit their record-breaking 17-match winning run was ended 25-19.

However, by now standing in as captain due to an injury to Robbie Stapley, Tom grabbed two more tries as his side collected the silverware, going over at Worthing (53-7) and in the 38-24 home success against Birmingham & Solihull which ensured an unbeaten campaign at Old Bath Road.

And while it took him until the 12th game of Rams’ first season in National One to open his account last season, he then went on a phenomenal streak with 12 tries in 14 games to finish as joint top-scorer with Jak Rossiter.

Pre-Christmas he dotted down at Canterbury (48-22), at home to Rosslyn Park (27-20) and twice in the 44-14 win against Plymouth Albion at OBR.

His brace at Chinnor played a key part in the amazing 21-17 success under the Friday night lights, and his last-play score salvaged a losing bonus-point against Richmond (17-22) the following week.

He made it five in three games with a double at Hull Ionians (40-13) and then ended the curtailed season with tries in his last three games against Rotherham (25-20), Old Elthamians (31-15) and Cinderford (40-38).
